We visited Portland in January, right after New Year's Eve. Despite the cold, we particularly enjoyed the riverside area. It was very nice.

The port was full of colored lights, boats and the illuminated kiosks of the Christmas market. There was also a band playing famous songs from movies and popular cartoons, a treat for grown-ups and children alike.

The riverside is the perfect destination for a family walk. At night it's also a very romantic setting, with the reflections of the boats and the lights on the water—it's a wonderful atmosphere really!

Although we enjoyed our stay it might be better to visit in warmer whether, to further enjoy the walk.
